Curatorial reading
Naissance means birth or origin. A contemporary figure stands within a charged symbolic field in which halo-like forms, winged or draped elements and skulls bring emergence into direct contact with mortality. Birth is therefore not treated as a simple beginning, but as a transformation shaped by what has preceded it. Sacred iconography and an ordinary human presence coexist, creating a meditation on renewal, endurance and transcendence.
Relationship to The Spaces Between
The work embodies the exhibition's central tension between beginning and ending, the earthly and the transcendent, and the individual body and the archetypal images through which human beings make meaning.
