In this linocut a porcupine moves steadily through the bush, its body graduallytransforming into the landscape it inhabits. As it walks, the animal gathers the thornybranches of acacia trees into its quills, becoming a living extension of the environment itpasses through. The dense lattice of thorns creates a mobile thicket, blurring theboundary between creature and habitat.Small birds settle among the branches, drawn to the unexpected refuge formed withinthe porcupine’s spines. What begins as a solitary animal becomes a movingecosystem—an embodiment of adaptation, protection, and coexistence within therhythms of the bush.
