Robert Wagener has a passion for ceramics and sculpture - its shape, form and texture. For Wagener, all aspects of the ceramic process seem akin to the volcanic origins of the Earth itself. Opening the kiln, as with all potters, has become an addiction for him. The experience of taking a ‘successful’ piece from the kiln is a source of infinite delight - and a ‘successful’ piece in his eyes, is one that startles the viewer, draws them in, and ultimately never lets them go.
