Dario Manjate uses portraits of African women to create collages that offer commentary on the link between consumerist culture and environmental degradation. Manjate considers how ecological harm emerges as a result of consumerism which is a by-product of capitalist societies characterised by greed and a lethal affinity to possess material goods. Manjate’s ractice of collage-making is an act of societal deconstruction by (re)constructing identities of social desire and distorting current notions of abundance.
