Tania Welgemoed can be described as a nature artist - depicting plants, flowers, breeds of dogs and the smaller amphibian and avian species of the more-than-human-world. Welgemoed is profoundly influenced by spirituality and draws from traces of mythology in song and cultures as the inspiration in the naming of her canvases; while using an earthy colour palette, juxtaposed by subtle elements of pink, further echoing her connection to nature. Welgemoed’s works are highly symbolic and reflective - in which she offers commentary on generational imprints, the foothold of the psyche as inner landscape, the impervious outer landscape, a sense of presence in space, that which is deemed worthy of being marked and measured, and lastly, practicing intuitive trusting and discernment.
