In “The Tides Will Change For The Better 1” Andrew Ntshabele shows a rich sense of joyful community. Children of various ages, are sitting together in a circle, clapping their hands while playing a game. This artwork depicting a carefree rural scene, contrasts with the collaged mostly monochromatic background which includes letters, stamps, pages of books and photographs and references a by gone era in South Africa. The circle has been left incomplete, indicating that there is always room for another. This uplifting scene positioned over the historical documents speak to strength in community, a spirit of joy that is brighter and happier than the past.
