In this work a giraffe’s head and neck push beyond the decorative frame, breakingthrough the boundaries of the image as if reaching outward to gain a clearer view of itssurroundings. Perched on the edge of the architectural form, an African roller watchesfrom above, anchoring the composition and enhancing the illusion of depth. Theinteraction between the giraffe and the bird creates a subtle three-dimensional effectwithin the otherwise flat picture plane. Surrounding patterns and radiant forms echo thestyle of illuminated iconography, framing the animals as symbolic presences within arichly ornamented visual field.
