Daniel Selibe, nicknamed 'Stompie' in the artworld, produces abstract works characterised by rhythmic outbursts of colour onto the canvas, wood, and other substrates. Selibe’s abstractions are symbolic forms of spirituality and a vulnerable engagement with the inner worlds of the self, through art. Selibe incorporates combinations of collage, abstract mark-making, and detailed texture to essentially craft culture from culture. Selibe’s artistic practice is a process of intentional deconstruction and reconstruction as he uses existing cultural materials to formulate new meanings.
